Pre-finished Products and Process

Over the past few years, pre-finished flooring has come a long way. There are so many different choices as to species, color, and even texture. In the past, pre-finished products were either too expensive or below-standard quality. Currently, the pre-finished market is gaining popularity due to its affordability and unsurpassed durability. Many of the products today come with a lifetime structural guarantee and a 25 year wear-through the finish warranty. (See specific product warranties.)

Terminology and methods of installation:

• Solid Flooring
  A tongue & groove flooring manufactured from one piece of wood. Nail Down Installation floor is blind nailed using cleats or staples.
• Engineered Flooring
  A multiple-layered plywood backing with dry sawn, real hardwood face. Nail Down or Glue Down Installation on or above or below grade level.
• Laminate Floor Covering
  Also a multiple-layered backing with photograph of wood pattern. Laminate floor coverings not available through Wood Floors 'R' Us, Inc.

As previously stated, many of the beginning stages of a project also applies to pre-finished floors. However, most pre-finished installations can be completed in one to three days depending on project specifications. Unlike the unfinished process, there will be no sanding of the hard-wood flooring nor are there be any fumes due to the staining and finishing process. Another benefit with pre-finished flooring is that it is possible to return your furnishings, area rugs and belongings to the areas immediately following the completion of the project.

• Mirage
  Premium flooring with overall quality and application.
  Choices: Solid and Engineered in nail or glue-down installation. Most species, limited exotics.
• Somerset
  Very good flooring with overall quality and application.
  Choices: Solid only; Nail down only. Excellent selections including exotics and hand-scraped flooring.
• Homerwood
  Very good quality and application.
  Choices: Solid only; nail down only. Excellent for character grade collection and hand scraped flooring.
• Oshkosh
  Specialty borders and medallions. (Available in finished or unfinished product.)
  Choices: Solid and Engineered in nail or glue-down installation. Excellent in all areas with unlimited design options.
